QPython is a multi-version Python runtime package designed for QTS 6 and QuTS hero 6, providing Python 2.7 and Python 3.10 through 3.14 in a single, self-contained environment.
It includes commonly used Python modules, packaging tools such as pip and uv, native libraries, and a lightweight multilingual Web UI for runtime status and management.
Installation can take a relatively long time, especially on HDD-based NAS systems.
This is mainly because QPython contains several complete Python runtimes and a very large number of small files from scientific libraries and Python packages.
During QPKG installation, QTS must extract and create each of these files individually, so the progress bar may remain around 50% for a long period while tar is still actively unpacking the package.
The package is optimized to reduce this overhead by removing bytecode caches, test suites, manuals and unnecessary documentation, while keeping the components required for Python, pip and native module development.
The runtime is also audited for x86_64/aarch64 compatibility and for QTS 6 / QuTS hero 6 systems using glibc up to 2.43.
