QNAP QTS 5.1 is available

QNAP has released a new version of QTS 5.1. This is a major release for the NAS manufacturer. It incorporates a large number of improvements and features to get the most out of your NASx. Let’s take a look at the main new features of QTS 5.1.

QNAP QTS 5.1 Is Now Available

After one Beta and three Release Candidates, QNAP now offers the new QTS 5.1 version for download. The system has been enhanced with numerous corrections and other improvements. These include :

  • Delegation of administration in NAS management (and data security): up to 8 roles can now be delegated to users. Role delegation will reduce the administrator’s workload.
  • SMB Multichannel: It is now possible to enjoy the best network speeds on at least 2 network ports (without changing hardware), with the added benefit of fault tolerance.
  • SMB signing acceleration: AES-128-GMAC signing (Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022 only) is now available from QNAP, to enhance security and improve NAS processor load.
  • Automatic disk replacement: the NAS can make a decision to replace a hard disk before a RAID failure, thanks to a spare hard disk. QTS automatically moves data from the affected disk to the spare, even avoiding rebuilding.
  • Two-factor authentication: With the QNAP Authenticator application, you can perform a two-step login on the NAS, including one-time or time-limited passwords, QR code scanning and login approval. Password-free login is also possible.
  • AMIZ Cloud on NAS: The arrival of a remote management tool that facilitates the deployment and management of QNAP devices.
  • File Station: The user interface has been improved and searching is now easier.

QTS 5.1.0 contains numerous improvements: security, administration interface, alert and notification management, fixes… You can find more information directly on QNAP’s QTS 5.1.0 page.
